Taxes are determined by your university's location, not your physical location.
How taxes work
All prices on Checkmark are displayed excluding tax. Applicable taxes are calculated and shown as separate line items at checkout before you pay.
Tax rates by university:
- Concordia & McGill (Quebec): 5% GST + 9.975% QST = 14.975%
- UBC (British Columbia): 5% GST + 7% PST = 12%
- UT Austin & SMU (Texas): No tax (educational services exempt)
Receipts
After each purchase, Stripe automatically sends a receipt to your email. This receipt includes the tax breakdown and can be used for your records.
